He has also been published in print for Macworld, including cover stories. It has greatly improved the GTD aspect I was looking forward to.Oliver Haslam has written about Apple and the wider technology business for more than a decade with bylines on How-To Geek, PC Mag, iDownloadBlog, and many more. I am hoping they fix all of the current issues and minimize the number of crashes.Ībove it all, though, I have always wanted the ability to attach a audio, scan document, attache a file or a photo. On the bright side, I think there's a lot of time left until they finish the beta. I think you're rightfully negative as it is something you have been using for a very long time and would like it to be perfect. I am hoping that once the beta is complete (or close to being complete) that they add settings that let you change it. I am a bit biased on the white space and the large font as I have poor vision but do understand that some people might not like that. My confidance in the app has greatly improved since the first time I downloaded the beta. It use to also always stutter when I scrolled down too fast but that seemed to also be less now. It does crash on me a couple of times but I have noticed it crashes less with the recent updates. But the new iOS direction does not work for me at all. I still love it on macOS but I fear a lot of the experiments from OF iOS will make their way to the Mac, too. I have been using OF for over a decade, too, and I am not seeing myself using this iteration for iOS. But we've been testing for a very long time now. An undo that's now hidden under an ellipsis menu, and so much more. Then there's the gigantic and clumsy blue outline around a task, finicky inline editing, status circles that are way too large. The two bars at the bottom were a terrible idea. There have been so so many wild changes to the UI and UX, it's all over the map. I know you can switch off inline and have a tap bring up the Inspector but that introduces even more crashes.īut mostly, I dislike the design and the design philosophy. For me, there was nothing wrong with the inspector and inline editing should have been implemented only if it could be done more fluidly. The wasted screen real estate in the Inspector, the odd combination of inline editing and an inspector. So many things are completely unintuitive, as well. In Forecast, I have to tap under the actual days for a tap to register. Then there are the tap targets: they are totally off. Strangely enough, I seem to be in the minority with this opinion.įor me, too, it crashes. ![]() In fact, I think the beta is a serious regression compared to the current version of OmniFocus for iOS. Sorry to bring on the hate when you are bringing on the love! I hate being so negative about their app because I have used OmniFocus for 12+ years now. why am I doing this? I don't know but it is a workflow that has been upset and noticeable. It's an extra tap just to get something to be due today or defer today. One thing that drives me nuts is, when you edit dates, it does not default to the current date. I know and understand what the word beta means but I figured it would improve after some point. I send in probably 5 to 6 crash reports a day as well. I have given them feedback on all of this. So in someways they have reduced taps but in other ways they have increased them for the worse. Sure you can re-organize the fields, but 3.0 was better at this. In the inspector, I think it is really wasteful as you have to scroll and scroll to get to around. I also think their usage of white space and large fonts is pretty wasteful. It has been like this since the beta started last year. I mean in five minutes it will crash like three or four times. ![]()
